SWAPPING CROWS
|
| |
|
From time to time the artisans on The Chocolate Crow Trader partake in organised "Swaps".
These swaps involve swapping gifts or "makings" with another artisan, in accordance with the particular swap theme.
We thought it would be nice to share some pictures of our most recent swap with you all.
Often the artistans are happy to duplicate the handmade items for sale. If you are interested in a particular item, simply email the artist via the email link on her selling page to find out if this is possible. )

2010
Our first SWAP for 2010 is due to be exchanged on the 15th February 2010 and photographs of the SWAP items will be published shortly after that date.
Here is the theme and details that the artisans must follow for this particular SWAP.
The SWAP theme…….. “A tag and a Box ”
The rules for the SWAP are as follows:-
Each artisan was sent the name of the artisan they are to send to (drawn form a "Hat").
The idea is to create or decorate a tag and a box for their partner ….any size and any theme their heart desires, …so long as it is a box with a tag!
It could be painted, covered, fabric, wood, decoupaged, mixed media, prim, pretty, distressed …even pop a decorated or handmade tag on a vintage box!!
They then simply fill the box with their choice of handmade or purchased goodies (or a bit of both).
Some examples could be….a handmade doll, some old wares, tea-towels and kitchen bits, handmade or purchased cookies or chocolates, a book , some crafting supplies …etc, etc, etc.
As mentioned, the only theme here is to handcraft/decorate a tag and a box and then pop something in it!!
….other than let the artisans can let their imagination run free!!...they could take you partners tastes into account....or maybe not??
It’s entirely up to them!
The MOST important rule is that everyone involved have fun!

2009
Our first SWAP is due to be exchanged on the 15th October 2009 and photographs of the SWAP items will be published shortly after that date.
Participating artisans will be required to use the following template to make their SWAP item.
The rules for the SWAP are as follows:-
1. Each artisan was sent a copy of the template and the name of the artisan they are to send to (drawn form a "Hat"). There were no instructions accompanying the template.
The idea is that they make it up as they wish, providing they stick with the template design. It can be made bigger/smaller…so long as the general shape of the template is not altered.
Artisans are not limited to making it up as a dolly….it could be a scarecrow, an annie , a ginger , a stitchery, painted on something , make her from cloth, timber a combination etc etc etc….whatever takes their fancy....just so long as the template shape is used. The SWAP item could be painted, stained, country, prim etc etc…….
2. The SWAP item is to be themed to suit the swap partner’s business name..For example:- if the swap partner was “The Chocolate Crow Trader”…the doll, scarecrow etc etc could be themed around “Chocolate"- add a choccy, paint it chocolate brown etc….. “Crow”-give it a crow to hold, perch a crow on its shoulder, hat etc….or even “Trader”- give her/ him a little market wheelbarrow or trading cart.
The idea is for the artisans to let their creative thoughts run wild......choices are limitless!).
Should they find the SWAP Partner’s business name be too difficult to create a theme, the item can be simply themed with something starting with one of the first letters of the business name (ie. The Chcocolate Crow Trader…….they could choose T or C and theme the item with something starting with either of these letters…eg T might be “Thanksgiving (harvest and pumpkins) or Thimble (sewing or stitchery ) Together (make two dollies)” etc etc…..C might be “Crows, Christmas, Cakes, Colourful, Cross stitch” etc etc)……..again they are only limited by your imagination.
3. The MOST important rule is that everyone involved have fun!
